According to L'Équipe, Metz are attempting to recall Pape Moussa Fall from his season-long loan at La Louvière in January to ease the burden on the isolated Habib Diallo.
The 21-year-old, a 2.03 m centre-forward, has shone in Belgium. Metz view the recall as a low-cost move approved by new coach Benoît Tavenot, but La Louvière have so far resisted.
The Belgian top-flight side have benefited from his form. Fall has scored eight goals in his last eight matches in all competitions, and is regarded internally for his attitude and influence.
The club hope to bring him back before the end of the winter window as they fight to stay up.
Fall is under contract in Lorraine until June 2029, and is being tracked by Club Bruges, Anderlecht, Mainz and several English clubs.
