FC Porto marked what would have been the 76th birthday of long-serving director Reinaldo Teles with a social media tribute. He died on 25 November 2020.
The club said in a post that he remains ever present and always with them.
Born in Paços de Ferreira, Teles was widely regarded as the long-time right-hand man of Pinto da Costa, the club’s former president.
After winning boxing titles in the 1970s, he served as a sections official for the club’s sports teams before moving into football in 1982 as assistant director. Four years later he became director.
In 1988 he took charge of the senior football department. In the early 1990s he joined Pinto da Costa’s board as vice-president, later becoming executive director of the SAD, then non-executive.
He received the Dragão de Ouro as director of the year at the end of 1989, became an honorary member in 1994 and was awarded the Dragão de Honra in 1998.
