Thiago Silva will miss Sunday’s I Liga match between FC Porto and Moreirense following the death of his mother, aged 70.

The club posted a message of support on social media to the experienced defender.

The club said in a statement that it received the news with deep sorrow and sent its deepest condolences to Silva and his family.

The statement underlined that Porto would stand by him at this difficult time.

Funeral services for Ângela Maria da Silva are scheduled for Sunday in Rio de Janeiro.
