Portugal have set a new season record for UEFA ranking points after FC Porto's victory confirmed a place in the quarter-finals.

According to O Jogo, the haul now totals 18900 points, surpassing the previous best of 18800 set in 2010/11. That was the season Porto met Braga in the Europa League final, a scenario that could be repeated this campaign.

This European week, Portugal have also secured sixth place in the five-year ranking, which restores three Champions League entrants in 2027/28.

Only England, Spain and Germany have earned more points this season after Portugal moved past Italy. The top two nations at the end of the campaign will gain one additional Champions League spot in 2026/27.

England and Spain hold a considerable advantage in that race, as they still have five and six clubs in European competition respectively.
