Felipe Melo has questioned the severity of Flamengo supporters’ protests despite a 3-0 win over Madureira in the Campeonato Carioca semi-final at the Maracanã on Sunday.
"Time sem vergonha" is too strong for me, even for a team that has won so much recently, and I have no doubt they will keep fighting for titles, he said on SporTV.
He accepted there had been below-par displays and said he could understand some boos at a big club, but added the players are not shameless.
The backlash followed a 1-0 first-leg defeat to Lanús in Argentina in the Recopa, which sharpened scrutiny of performances and results in 2026.
Before kick-off and again at half-time, parts of the Maracanã voiced their anger at the players.
Last year Flamengo won the Campeonato Carioca, the Brasileirão and the Copa Libertadores under Filipe Luís.
They now chase their first title of 2026, hosting Lanús in the Recopa second leg at the Maracanã on Thursday at 21:30 Brasília time.
