Felix Zwayer named among referees for World Cup

Felix Zwayer will be the only German referee at the 2026 World Cup as FIFA announced the final list of 52 names. It’s going to be the first World Cup for the referee who officiated the semi-final between England and the Netherlands during the 2024 Euros.

Robert Kempter and Christian Dietz are the assistant referees assigned alongside the 44-year-old referee. In addition, Bastian Dankert is selected as one of the 30 video assistant referees.

Dankert was also on VAR duty in the first two tournaments where FIFA adopted the technology. Daniel Siebert was the only German referee at the Qatar World Cup.
