Fenerbahçe close to agreement with Yves Bissouma
Yves Bissouma, the 28-year-old midfielder, is set to leave Tottenham and could join Fenerbahçe in the coming days.
The player has not featured this season under Thomas Frank, the new Spurs manager, and has registered zero minutes since the campaign began. This situation stems from disciplinary issues: Bissouma reportedly showed up late to several training sessions, prompting the coach to sideline him, including for the UEFA Super Cup final against PSG. Frank explained:
“You need a lot of empathy with players, but there are standards and consequences. This time, those consequences were enforced.”
The player and his agent first negotiated with Galatasaray, but the transfer fell through despite a decent salary offer. Fenerbahçe, a direct rival of the Istanbul club, is now in a strong position and advanced talks are underway to finalize the Malian's arrival.
Bissouma's contract with Tottenham expires next year, so the English club is keen to sell him this summer to recoup a transfer fee. The Turkish transfer window closes on September 12, leaving just a few days to complete the deal.
