A Spor reports that Fenerbahçe have opened exploratory talks over Mohamed Salah as the January window approaches.
Salah is in Morocco for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and scored a stoppage-time winner in Egypt’s 2-1 opening victory against Zimbabwe.
Fenerbahçe president Sadettin Saran is said to have met Salah’s representative on Tuesday night to assess the feasibility of a January switch to Istanbul for the 33-year-old.
The Yellow Canaries sit second in the Süper Lig, three points behind Galatasaray, and are performing strongly in the Europa League. They view Salah as a potential catalyst in the hunt for silverware.
The link to Türkiye comes amid friction at Liverpool following last season’s title win. Arne Slot’s second campaign has been inconsistent, and in November Salah was benched for three straight matches, after which he hinted at strains with the hierarchy while pundits suggested he felt pushed towards the exit.
Liverpool are also dealing with injuries, with Cody Gakpo still sidelined with muscle issues. Losing Salah mid-season would be a major risk for the Reds.
As AFCON unfolds, the focus will be on whether Salah returns to Merseyside or whether the Istanbul talks point to a different future.
