Manchester United claimed a 2-1 comeback victory over 10-man Crystal Palace in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The visitors started the game on a strong foot and almost took an early lead in the second minute when Jorgen Strand Larsen found space at the edge of the area, but he sliced his effort wide.

At the other end, Dean Henderson scuffed his clearance to Bruno Fernandes, who shot from range, but his effort lacked power to beat the Englishman in goal.

In the 4th minute, the Eagles took the lead via Maxence Lacroix after he met Brennan Johnson’s delivery from a corner with a bullet header, leaving Senne Lammens rooted to the spot.

Minutes later, Ismaila Sarr had the opportunity to double the visitors’ score after he was found in the area by Daniel Munoz, but his effort was straight at Lammens.

Just past the half-hour mark, Harry Maguire could’ve restored parity for the host after he met Bryan Mbeumo’s inviting cross, but his header was blocked by Sarr before Benjamin Sesko’s headed effort was saved by Henderson.

The Red Devils continued racking up pressure and almost found the equaliser via Fernandes’ free kick, but his effort was tipped over the bar by Henderson before Casemiro sent his header wide from a Fernandes free kick.

Five minutes after the restart, Strand Larsen almost doubled the visitors’ advantage after he was found by Mitchell, but the striker’s effort went well off target.

In the 57th minute, United were awarded a penalty after Matheus Cunha went down in the area under the challenge of Lacroix. After a VAR review, referee Chris Kavanagh sent Lacroix off, and Palace were down to 10 men.

Fernandes stepped up for the spot-kick, and he converted, sending Henderson the wrong way to draw United level.

Moments later Fernandes had his sights on goal from 25 yards out, but his effort flew wide.

In the 65th minute, Sesko fired United ahead after he met Fernandes’ inswinger cross with a bullet header.

Moments later, Casemiro could’ve put the game to bed after he was found at the back post by Mbeumo, but his volley was saved by Henderson.

In the closing stages of the game, Amad Diallo and Cunha saw their long-range efforts saved by Henderson.

Manchester United have moved up to third in the Premier League standings, leapfrogging Aston Villa in their race for Champions League qualification.
