Vasco coach Fernando Diniz has urged patience over Rayan’s future, saying the 19-year-old would benefit from staying a little longer before moving to Europe.

According to Globo.com, the forward wants to join Bournemouth, who are prepared to pay 35 million euros, and he has met the club’s hierarchy to express his wish to play in the Premier League.

Speaking on Thursday before the Campeonato Carioca opener against Maricá, Diniz said remaining for a while would help both player and club. He argued it would leave Rayan better prepared for Europe and strengthen his story at Vasco and in Brazilian football. He added that, if the striker stays, he could deliver an even better season than 2025, when he scored 20 goals.

The meeting took place hours after Rayan signalled positively to Bournemouth’s proposal. His representatives see the Premier League as a positive step, but there is no agreement between the clubs.

Even so, the player and his agents are not planning to force an exit, given his respect for the academy that developed him. Vasco want to keep him at least until mid-year, believing a further six months in Brazil would increase his value.
