Corinthians trained at Neo Química Arena on Monday morning to adapt to the new surface and tune up for the season’s return, which includes last-16 ties in the Copa do Brasil and Copa Libertadores alongside the Brasileirão. Head coach Fernando Diniz reviewed the work 22 days into the mid-season programme and welcomed the move to take the squad to Itaquera.

“We trained a lot after the break, the training volume was very high. Now we are easing the load a little so we can restart the Brasileirão well. We trained here at the Arena and it was good to come because the pitch has changed. We came so the players could adapt a bit for a good restart against Remo,” he told Corinthians TV.

“Everyone is connected, and in a way a little anxious to restart, to see the fans again and to be back to the matches and the adrenaline. The team needs to play again. I really miss seeing the Arena full for a match.”

The session was arranged to familiarise the squad with the updated conditions at the stadium ahead of competitive action resuming.

Corinthians host Remo in Itaquera on Thursday in the 19th round of the Brasileirão, with kick-off at 19:30.
