Spain spent Monday celebrating the World Cup won in the United States, culminating at Cibeles in Madrid. Amid the euphoria, Ferran Torres emerged as the night’s standout.

As reported by Superdeporte, the day began with formal tributes at the Royal Household and with political leaders, then a city parade and a stage show featuring the World Cup hit Superestrella by Aitana.

Players were introduced by squad number, but the presenters saved Torres to go last before the captain. He had struck against Argentina in the 106th minute to deliver the trophy, and thousands roared his name.

The Valencia academy graduate appeared with the senyera tied around his waist while “Ahí está el tiburón” rang out in tribute to his nickname. He raised the trophy to a sea of supporters holding signs for him.

Ferran has been an example of resilience and self-belief, proving pivotal for Luis de la Fuente’s side by scoring the most important goal in Spanish football history alongside Andrés Iniesta in 2010.

After the presentations and speeches, Rodri took the microphone to champion Torres, asking the crowd to sing for a very special player who had been unfairly criticised and is important to the team. He then led a mass chant of Ferran’s name.
