After the USMNT's great victory over Bosnia, Mauricio Pochettino turned a good team into a great one by adding the one thing the American side was missing: that extra bit of aggression to keep moving toward a possible World Cup final.

However, the image that remains in every United States fan’s mind is Folarin Balogun’s red card in the second half of the match.

With the result in their favor, the referee reviewed a foul committed by the American forward and then confirmed his decision with a red card.

Many people were waiting for FIFA’s decision on how many matches the very important USMNT striker would receive.

FIFA gave United States fans their soul back

I know the title seems ironic, but it's true. Everyone witnessed the stark difference in the team’s performance without Folarin Balogun leading the attack.

The truth is that Pepi and Reyna are not at the level that the AS Monaco striker has shown.

With very little, it is true, Balogun drew defenders, left them dizzy, and even scored absurd goals to put his team ahead.

However, against the European side, Balogun committed a foul that could have been avoided.

When the defender and the striker collided, the USMNT player stretched out his foot to step and regain his balance, but instead of finding the ground, he found the Bosnian’s ankle, resulting in an old-school studs-up challenge.

The problem, and the big question here, is when the referee decided to show the striker a red card for the challenge.

The truth is that, being honest, I, writing this article, agree with the referee's decision. Balogun could have avoided planting his foot so close to the defender's ankle and, in doing so, prevented his sending off.

However, he did not, and now Pochettino has to face Belgium without his star striker.

Fortunately for the Americans, FIFA has already confirmed Balogun's suspension, and the forward will only miss the match against Belgium.
