FIFA says it has received over 500 million ticket requests for the 2026 World Cup, to be staged in Canada, the United States and Mexico. Applications closed on Tuesday.

According to Le Progres, requests arrived from all 211 member countries and territories, with especially strong demand in Germany, England, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Spain and Portugal, as well as the hosts.

The most sought-after fixtures include Colombia v Portugal on 27 June in Miami, Mexico v South Korea on 18 June in Guadalajara, and the final in New Jersey on 19 July.

Tickets were requested in a ballot, with allocation due next month. Results will not be released before 5 February.

The tournament runs from 11 June to 19 July with 48 teams. Pricing has sparked heavy criticism from supporters, and in December a new reduced-price category was introduced at 60 dollars, 51 euros.
