Sport Bild reports that Hoffenheim striker Fisnik Asllani has chosen RB Leipzig over Barcelona and that a transfer is imminent, with only salary terms to settle. Leipzig intend to trigger the release clause in his Hoffenheim deal.

The clause is reported to scale with the buyer, consistently placed at €25m to €29m. Transfermarkt indicates the move would rank among Hoffenheim’s 10 biggest sales and Leipzig’s 10 costliest buys.

Hoffenheim confirmed on Sunday their squad for a training camp in Seefeld, Austria, running from 2-9 August, and Asllani was left out. He was also omitted from a recent friendly amid growing Leipzig links. Managing director for sport Andreas Schicker had already acknowledged talks with clubs in Germany and abroad at the start of pre-season.

Sport Bild adds that the deal could be completed while Hoffenheim are in Austria, though Leipzig would prefer to move on a current striker before finalising terms.

Leipzig are seeking another centre-forward to compete with Rômulo. An adviser working with Wolfsburg’s Mohamed Amoura claimed on Sunday that talks with Leipzig were already advanced, but Sky Germany stated there is neither an imminent agreement nor advanced discussions.

Asllani posted 11 goals and 10 assists in 35 games last season. His estimated value has risen from €8m to €35m, so the clause would price him below that. He would be Hoffenheim’s 18th outgoing of the window.
