Five free agents Walsall could consider as rebuild continues | OneFootball

With 14 departures and five arrivals, Walsall still have work to do this summer, ExpressAndStar.com reports. Here are five free agents they could consider to round out the squad.

Goalkeeper Myles Roberts made 43 League Two appearances on loan last term, keeping 13 clean sheets in 46 games in all competitions. Released by Watford on his return, he is now a free agent. Jenson Kilroy is the only senior keeper after Sam Hornby joined Hednesford Town.

Tom Bradshaw scored 40 goals across 2014-2016 with Walsall before lengthy spells at Barnsley and Millwall. He rejoined Barnsley on loan from Oxford United in the second half of last season under Richard Keogh and scored three, then was released by Oxford. A return would be a gamble, though some would hope he could find his touch at Bescot.

Midfielder Evan Khouri has been linked with Walsall this summer, though nothing has developed. The 23-year-old rejected a new deal at Grimsby Town after four goals and two assists in 42 outings last term. With Lewis Simper, Sven Sprangler and loanee Isaac Moore already in, midfield may not be the priority.

Defender Will Wright left Swindon Town after two seasons, having been named their 2024-25 player of the season. The 29-year-old previously won promotion to League One with Crawley Town via the 2024 play-offs. He registered 10 goals and eight assists in 95 Swindon appearances.

Walsall are yet to significantly strengthen out wide, and Omari Patrick has delivered despite Tranmere’s struggles. He has 21 goals in 92 games across the past two seasons, and produced eight goals and six assists last term. Patrick has also scored in three of his nine meetings with the Saddlers.
