Five Out of Five: Xabi Alonso Extends Perfect Real Madrid Start
Xabi Alonso continued his dream start as Real Madrid manager securing 5th consecutive victory in La liga with 2 - 0 win over Espanyol on Saturday.
According to Opta, Alonso's now the 11th coach in La liga history to win his first 5 matches in the competition.
He's also just the 3rd Real Madrid manager to do so following Jose Quirante in 1928 /29 & Vanderlei Luxemburgo in 2004 /05.
Speaking to Real Madrid TV, Alonso expressed satisfaction:
"We approached the game with seriousness & stability. Maybe we lacked creativity in the final 3rd but the team stayed disciplined and faced no major risks. For us, this's important win to keep growing and now we focus on Tuesday".
Alonso praised Eder Militao’s long range strike & Kylian Mbappe’s counter-attacking goal calling them key steps forward against defensive blocks.
He also explained his choice to field four attackers aiming to increase presence in the box and create varied movement.
The coach welcomed the returns of Jude Bellingham & Eduardo Camavinga from injury:
"Their comeback's fantastic for the team and for themselves. We need them with the busy schedule ahead"
With 5 straight win, Alonso’s Madrid's shown both solidity and attacking power fueling high expectations among the Bernabeu faithful.
