The 2026 World Cup will mark a historic milestone for the Campeonato Brasileiro, with 32 players called up, nine from Flamengo, surpassing the 1974 tally of 27, according to Transfermarkt.

Compared with 2022, the league has quadrupled its numbers. Seven players travelled to Qatar that year, three for Brazil. Éverton Ribeiro and Pedro were Flamengo's representatives.

Seven are in Brazil's squad and another 25 represent six other nations. Paraguay, Uruguay, Ecuador, Colombia, Argentina and the Netherlands all include players currently active in the league.

Brazil took Danilo, Lucas Paquetá, Alex Sandro and Léo Pereira. Uruguay selected De La Cruz, Varela and Arrascaeta. Colombia called Jorge Carrascal, while Gonzalo Plata is with Ecuador.

The tournament has three hosts, with 48 teams playing in the United States, Mexico and Canada. The opening match is on Thursday 11, and Brazil begin on the 13.
