According to Globo.com, Flamengo have the most players on Brazil’s provisional World Cup list, with seven among the 55 sent by Carlo Ancelotti to FIFA on Monday night. The names are Danilo, Alex Sandro, Léo Pereira, Léo Ortiz, Lucas Paquetá, Pedro and Samuel Lino.
The final 26 will be announced next Monday at 17:00 Brasília time at the Museu do Amanhã in Rio de Janeiro. Since Ancelotti’s arrival, only Pedro has not been called, and the coach said he could not assess him closely in November because of an arm injury.
Four Flamengo players are seen as favourites for the tournament, Danilo, already named by Ancelotti, Léo Pereira, Alex Sandro and Lucas Paquetá. Paquetá is recovering from injury and is expected to be available to Leonardo Jardim for Sunday’s meeting with Athletico-PR.
Pedro is viewed as an outside contender and his name is being discussed inside the CBF after a strong start to the season. With Igor Thiago and João Pedro in more comfortable positions, a late surprise is not ruled out.
Léo Ortiz and Samuel Lino feature mainly as depth options among the 55. Ortiz was on Ancelotti’s first list but did not play against Ecuador or Paraguay, while Lino was called in October, started in Bolivia and struggled at altitude.
