Flamengo monitoring Botafogo’s Danilo and ready to pounce

According to Coluna Do Fla, Flamengo have not tabled an offer for Botafogo midfielder Danilo, though they are closely monitoring him after a strong start to 2026 and eye-catching performances for Brazil.

Danilo is admired by Leonardo Jardim, and the club are ready to pounce should an opportunity arise.

Botafogo are in a severe financial and political crisis. The club have been the subject of FIFA action over debts to Lyon of France and other teams, and have faced frequent transfer bans.

Danilo has seven goals in 2026, six for Botafogo and one for Brazil. He is the second highest-scoring defensive midfielder this year, behind Federico Valverde of Real Madrid.

Flamengo already have options in his position. Pulgar is the first-choice starter, with academy product Evertton Araújo as back-up. Jorginho, De La Cruz and Saúl Ñíguez can also feature there.
