Flamengo have asked the CBF to move Saturday’s meeting with Fluminense, citing delays on their return from Peru.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the clássico is set for 18:30 Brasília time on Saturday at the Maracanã, leaving the squad only Friday to train.

For security reasons, Rio de Janeiro police do not want three sets of supporters circulating on the same day. A switch to Sunday would collide with Botafogo v Coritiba at 16:00 at the Engenhão.

More than 24,000 tickets have already been sold for Fluminense v Flamengo, so any move could create consumer rights issues for fans unable to attend on Sunday.

The subsequent calendars pose no obstacle. Fluminense are due to play Independiente Rivadavia (ARG) on Wednesday 15 in the Libertadores, while Flamengo face Independiente Medellín (COL) on Thursday 16.

Flamengo could not fly out after Wednesday’s win in Cusco because the city’s airport does not operate at night. The group left for Arequipa on Thursday morning, but a change to their departure caused delays. They were initially due to leave Arequipa at 13:15 Brasília time and land late afternoon, now arrival is expected at night at Galeão.
