Flamengo are weighing a mid-season training camp during the World Cup break, and an overseas base is under consideration.
According to GE, there is a chance sessions take place in South America, with Uruguay and Argentina possible. Portugal is another option, though viewed as less likely.
For now, the club are awaiting a decision from Leonardo Jardim before confirming the plan. The first part of the pause will be time off, beginning straight after the final match before the break against Coritiba.
That fixture is on 30 May at the Maracanã in the Campeonato Brasileiro. The initial shutdown is expected to last 15 days, after which the squad will reconvene at Ninho do Urubu.
The second phase should be the training camp, subject to the final call. Flamengo have run pre-seasons abroad in each of the past two years, holding training and friendlies in the United States at the start of the year.
In the meantime, Flamengo face Vitória on Thursday 14 at 21:30 Brasília time at Estádio Barradão, the second leg of the fifth phase of the Copa do Brasil.
