Flamengo to honour Jorge Ben Jor with 2027 third kit | OneFootball

Flamengo’s deliberative council approved the club’s 2027 kit designs on Monday 11, with the third strip set to honour Jorge Ben Jor.

Predominantly black, the third kit will feature pink, blue and yellow accents in a nod to the Tropicália movement, which the Flamengo-supporting artist led. According to ESPN, it gained 72% approval, while the other two designs each received 90%.

The home shirt will have thin stripes with red sleeves, echoing the club’s 2018 look. The white strip adds red, black and grey detailing and references the Taça Salutaris, a 1927 contest Flamengo won as Brazil’s most likeable club.

Jorge Ben is one of Brazil’s most influential singers and has long-standing ties with Flamengo. A devoted fan, he once pursued a playing career and turned out for the club at youth levels.

He has referenced Flamengo in songs such as “Sou Flamengo” and “País Tropical”, including a famous line declaring his allegiance and mentioning Tereza. In 2024, the club paid tribute on social media, with Igor Jesus, Gabigol and Bruno Henrique recreating classic images of the artist.
