They defeated Brazil again, 2-0 in 1976 in the Taça Geraldo Cleófas Dias Alves. In 1990 they overcame the United States 1-0 in the Copa Marlboro in Philadelphia. In 1994 they drew 0-0 with Australia at the Torneio MLS in Kuala Lumpur.

United States face Australia at 16:00 Brasília time to start Friday’s World Cup action.

Scotland meet Morocco at 19:00 Brasília time, a fixture with no previous Flamengo meetings.

Brazil take on Haiti in Philadelphia at 21:30 Brasília time in Group C, with four Flamengo players available for Brazil.
