Sunderland’s transfer drive is gathering pace, with progress on Dayann Methalie and fresh movement around Simon Adingra and Ernest Poku.
Sacha Tavolieri reports that Methalie wants the move to Wearside and that Sunderland’s latest bid exceeds £21.4million including add-ons, with Toulouse holding out for about £25.7million. Fresh talks are expected.
RMC Sport previously reported a five-year agreement with the 20-year-old, while L’Équipe says negotiations continue after an opening offer of around £17million was rejected. The Guardian has added that Newcastle decided against a formal bid and Aston Villa made an enquiry, leaving Sunderland well placed to address a position that has needed reinforcement since Dennis Cirkin’s departure.
Bild claims Sunderland are attempting to lure Bayer Leverkusen winger Ernest Poku to the Premier League, with the Bundesliga club open to talks and seeking around £21.4million. The 22-year-old, under contract until 2030, can operate across the frontline and produced six goals and 10 assists in his first season, and with Bertrand Traoré gone Sunderland are targeting another wide option, though how advanced this is remains unclear.
In Italy, reports suggest Roma have shortlisted Adingra as they explore alternatives, with La Gazzetta dello Sport and Leggo stating sporting director Tony D’Amico admires him and sees the finances as manageable, and a valuation of around £30million mooted. TEAMtalk has reported wider interest in the 24-year-old, though there is no suggestion yet of a formal offer following his Monaco loan.
