Florentino Pérez says he will table a bid on Tuesday worth about €150m, which would be the most expensive signing in Real Madrid’s history. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, he set out the plan during an appearance on Horizonte on Cuatro amid anticipation of a new marquee recruit after two trophyless seasons.
He did not reveal a name, offering only clues. He said the target plays from midfield forward, is a star at a major Champions League club, and does not play in the Premier League. He also ruled out Olisé, Doku, Haaland and Kane.
Pérez confirmed Mourinho’s return as coach and lauded his previous spell. He added that Dumfries had been signed, noting that two defenders were already in place.
Recent weeks have linked Madrid with Vitinha and Joao Neves, profiles that fit those hints. The report stressed that Pérez spoke of presenting a record offer rather than having an agreement in place.
He used the interview to underline his leadership, saying the club tops rankings, that he has won 66 titles and more European Cups than anyone. He also pointed out Madrid lifted the Champions League two years ago and said he wants to win it every year to match members’ expectations.
