Florentino Perez to consult Mbappe before making move for former PSG boss – report | OneFootball

Real Madrid could be considering a surprising managerial option for the future, with Mauricio Pochettino reportedly emerging as a strong candidate for the job.

As reported before, the Argentine coach is gaining attention within the club as a potential replacement for current manager Alvaro Arbeloa. 

While no final decision has been made, discussions around possible coaching changes have already begun internally.

There is a catch

As reported by Defensa Central, one factor that could play a key role in this situation is the opinion of Kylian Mbappe. 

The French forward previously worked under Pochettino during their time together at Paris Saint-Germain, and the two developed a strong professional relationship.

During Pochettino’s spell in charge at PSG, Mbappe was one of the standout performers in the squad. 

The forward took on a leadership role in the team and delivered some of the best performances of his career during that period.

Because of that connection, Real Madrid believe that Pochettino’s appointment could help Mbappe perform at an even higher level if the two were reunited in Spain.

For now, however, the club’s leadership is still exploring options, as Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is known for carefully evaluating multiple opinions before making major decisions regarding the club’s direction.

Reports suggest that Perez already knows Pochettino well, as the coach has previously appeared on the club’s shortlist of managerial candidates in the past. 

Within certain circles at the club, the Argentine is viewed positively, and his chances of being considered again have reportedly increased.

Nevertheless, the Real Madrid president is expected to consult several voices before making any move. 

And among those opinions, Mbappe’s view could carry significant weight given his importance within the team.

So what now?

At the moment, Pochettino is working as head coach of the United States men’s national soccer team, but speculation about his future has continued to circulate in recent weeks.

When asked about the growing rumours linking him with Real Madrid, the Argentine coach did not completely dismiss the possibility, although he chose his words carefully.

“There are many rumours, almost always negative, so as long as they are pleasant…”

Furthermore, Pochettino was also asked about his relationship with Perez, and he confirmed that his connection with the Real Madrid president remains positive.

“I always have a very good relationship with almost all clubs, not just Madrid,” he added.
