It's been a long time coming for Liverpool's Florian Wirtz.

The Germany international signed for the Reds in a big-money move from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer, but it's been a slow start to life at Anfield in terms of goal contributions.

Aside from a handful of assists in all competitions, a goal has long evaded the attacking midfielder.

The drought was almost over when he appeared to score an equaliser against Sunderland earlier this month, but it was ultimately awarded as an own-goal.

Now, it is officially over as Wirtz got himself on the scoresheet in the first-half of Liverpool's Premier League clash with Wolves.

Ryan Gravenberch had fired Arne Slot's side in front minutes earlier, courtesy of an assist from Jeremie Frimpong.

Then, Hugo Ekitike slipped in Wirtz as he broke free in the box and rolled an effort into the back of the net.

It took 16 games in the Premier League, but he is now finally off the mark.
