Nottingham Forest have confirmed the appointment of former Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner as head coach on a reported three-year deal. The club said in a statement the announcement was made at 10am on Monday.
Forest’s website profiled the 51-year-old by highlighting spells with LASK, VfL Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt, noting a first Premier League move in February 2024. It recorded a 1-0 FA Cup win over Manchester City in 2025, a Community Shield shoot-out over Liverpool that summer, and a 2025/26 Conference League success against Rayo Vallecano, but did not mention Crystal Palace.
Relations soured last summer when Forest asked UEFA to clarify Palace’s ownership, with then owner John Textor also holding shares in Lyon, who had qualified for the Europa League. UEFA rules bar any person or company from holding majority voting rights at two clubs in the same competition.
Palace were demoted to the UEFA Conference League, which they won, and Forest took the Europa League place. The Reds reached the semi-finals before losing to Aston Villa.
In August Forest visited Selhurst Park, after which Palace were charged with misconduct over an offensive banner aimed at Evangelos Marinakis. In February 2026 they were found guilty and fined £50,000.
Glasner left Palace at the end of his contract earlier this summer and has now taken over at the City Ground. It is reported he will bring his Selhurst Park back-room team.
