Nottingham Forest have received a timely lift before Arsenal’s visit, with club captain Ryan Yates back training with the squad and a potential return nearing. Saturday’s game at the City Ground kicks off at 5.30pm.
The head coach, Sean Dyche, said in his pre-match press conference that Yates has been back on the grass all week with no setbacks and feels good after the hamstring problem that has sidelined him since early December. He added that Chris Wood is making slow but steady progress following knee surgery, while goalkeeper John Victor has had a minor knee operation and will be out for a little while, with no timescale yet.
Ibrahim Sangare is available again for the Gunners’ visit, with fellow Ivory Coast international Willy Boly also back after their country’s Africa Cup of Nations exit. Both players have returned to the club and are recovering from travel.
Sangare had been in fine form before departing for the tournament. In his absence Forest won only one Premier League match, a 2-1 victory at West Ham United last week that moved them seven points clear of the relegation zone.
Forest hope Sangare can quickly rediscover that level, having developed a promising understanding with Elliot Anderson. Competition for places in midfield remains strong.
