Former Barcelona midfielder will soon join Hansi Flick’s coaching staff – report | OneFootball

Upon his arrival at FC Barcelona last year, Hansi Flick brought in former midfielder Thiago Alcantara as a temporary member of his coaching staff.

The La Masia graduate, who had announced his retirement at the time, joined up on a short-term contract to help Flick ease into things at the club.

While Thiago was in the role for only a few months, he made a big impact, impressing the players as well as Flick.

As such, rumours of a return have been doing the rounds since January, but nothing materialised.

But, according to the latest update from Que T’hi Jugues, Thiago will soon rejoin Hansi Flick’s staff at Barcelona and will be part of the technical team during the ongoing season.

Building on that, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the agreement for the former La Masia ace to return is 100% done. In fact, he might be back working at Barcelona from next week if all goes according to plan.

The German tactician highly values the former midfielder’s contributions during the 2024 pre-season and is counting on him again.

While greater details about Thiago’s role and the duration for which he would sign are unclear at this point, it appears that the former Spanish international will be returning home for another stint as a coach.

Thiago played under Flick at Bayern Munich, and the pair forged a strong relationship during their time in Bavaria.

With their partnership at Barça, even if it was for a short duration, producing good results, the pair appear keen to reunite again.
