HLN are reporting that Genk have found Andi Zeqiri a new club. The Swiss striker will leave for Polish side Widzew Łódź, with the deal expected to be finalised before the Polish transfer window closes on Monday evening. Zeqiri and Genk have been looking for a new club for the forward who spent last season on loan at Standard Liege. The Belgian club had been looking to bring Zeqiri back to Liege but the player would not reduce his wage demands. As a result, he is off to Widzew Łódź instead, a side sitting in 13th in the Ekstraklasa. Zeqiri could have joined Champions League debutants Pafos FC, but he rejected a move to Cyprus.
Genk signed Zeqiri from Brighton for around €2.75m two seasons ago, but the striker struggled to become a first team regular for the side. Last year he was Standard Liege’s top scorer with 10, one more than the 26-year-old had scored in his first season for Genk. Prior to that, Zeqiri enjoyed success with FC Basel, scoring 18 goals in 50 games during the 2022/2023 season. During his time with Brighton, Zeqiri scored once in just 13 appearances.
