Veteran striker Jelle Vossen will stay with Zulte Waregem until 2026. The 36-year-old scored a dramatic late winner last Friday to help the side win promotion back to the Belgian Pro League. Vossen’s future was unclear prior to the game, but now both player and club have confirmed that the striker will remain with the club for one more season.

The former Burnley and Middlesbrough striker was, despite his advancing years, in great form for the side this season. He ended the Challenger Pro League campaign with 15 goals in 24 games. This was just another season in which Vossen has performed for Zulte Waregem. Since joining the club in the 2019/2020 season, he has gone on to make 160 appearances, scoring 66 goals.

Prior to playing for Zulte Waregem, Vossen also had time with Club Brugge, Cercle Brugge and Genk alongside his English adventures. During his time with Genk he scored 105 goals in 248 games, while with Club Brugge he grabbed 48 goals in 141 appearances. He now has a chance to add to his 159 Pro League goals next season.
