Former Manchester United star Paul Pogba is set to make his long-awaited return to action from a doping ban this weekend.
Pogba joined Monaco on a two-year contract last summer, but has failed to make his debut due to knocks picked up this autumn.
But the BBC Sport report the Frenchman is poised to play for the Red and Whites when they face Rennes in an away fixture on Saturday.
Pogba was handed a four-year ban by Italy’s anti-doping court for failing a drug test in August 2023 following a match for Juventus.
The 32-year-old appealed against the length of his ban and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) reduced it to 18 months.
He hasn’t made a competitive appearance since featuring for the Old Lady against Empoli in a Serie A game in September 2023.
Pogba started his career at United, where he made seven senior appearances before joining Juventus on a free transfer in 2012.
He helped the Italian outfit win four consecutive Serie A titles, before returning to Old Trafford in a then-world record £89 million fee in 2016.
However, the midfielder failed to justify his enormous price tag. While there were flashes of individual brilliance, Pogba didn’t deliver quality displays on a consistent basis.
In 233 appearances across all competitions, the 2018 World Cup winner scored 39 goals and provided 51 appearances.
Pogba re-joined Juventus at the end of his six-year contract with United in 2022, but featured just 12 times before his deal was mutually terminated.
