Former Real Madrid youth team star Victor Munoz is making headlines, having emerged as a target for Barcelona after an impressive season.

With six goals and five assists to his name, along with a recent debut for the Spanish national team, Munoz is finally getting the recognition many expected during his early years.

However, his rise contrasts sharply with a painful episode from his time at Real Madrid.

What’s the story?

The moment dates back to May 2025, during an intense El Clasico clash against Barcelona.

Munoz was introduced late in the game, replacing Vinicius Jr., with Madrid trailing 4-3.

Soon after coming on, he found himself in a one-on-one situation that could have changed the outcome.

Instead, he missed the chance, failing to hit the target. What followed was difficult. Despite visibly breaking down on the pitch, some sections of the fanbase directed their frustration towards him after the match.

Reflecting on the moment

Looking back on that period, Munoz admitted it was something beyond his control and part of the harsh reality of professional football.

“Something external; you can’t control what people might say. This is par for the course and, unfortunately, it’s normal in football,” he said as reported by SPORT.

Now, things are very different. His performances at Osasuna have not only revived his career but also attracted interest from top clubs.

Real Madrid still retain an option to bring him back for €8 million this summer, while Barcelona are closely monitoring his progress.

Amid this renewed attention, Munoz also spoke about reconnecting with familiar faces during his time with the national team, including Fermin Lopez, with whom he shared earlier experiences.

“You keep an eye on them because they’re players who’ve been with you, but I hadn’t been able to play alongside them.

“Fermin again until now, and the truth is it’s been great with him,” he added.
