Former Toulouse manager Carles Martínez Novell set to sign with Bayer Leverkusen | OneFootball

Carles Martínez Novell is reportedly set to become the new manager of Bayer Leverkusen, according to reports from Matteo Moretto, confirmed by Sky Sports.

Having been out of work since leaving Toulouse FC a few weeks ago, the 42-year-old coach is said to have reached an agreement with the German club on a two-year contract. Kasper Hjulmand, meanwhile, is set to leave the Rhineland after failing to qualify Die Werself for the next Champions League campaign.

Could Martínez Novell be the man to see this through? His record at TéFéCé is, in any case, respectable. Having taken over Les Violets‘ dugout in the summer of 2023, the Spaniard has managed, without any real difficulty, to keep them in the top flight on three occasions, whilst leading them to some fine performances during their 2023-24 Europa League campaign, notably marked by a prestigious 3–2 victory over Liverpool FC. In 120 matches, Martínez Novell racked up 44 wins, 46 defeats and 30 draws.
