Bernardo Silva’s time at Manchester City is set to end in the summer.
The 31-year-old’s contract at City will expire in July, but no negotiations have taken place between the two parties over an extension.
With the Portugal international’s exit now almost guaranteed, we take a look at four potential destinations for him next season.
Silva started his football career with Benfica, where he rose through the academy ranks to make three senior appearances before joining Monaco.
The versatile midfielder could make an emotional return to his boyhood club. They would love to bring him back to Lisbon.
However, he is currently on enormous wages at City, and would have to take a significant pay cut to move back to Portugal.
Al-Hilal made Silva a mega-money offer in 2023, but he turned down the opportunity to continue his career in the Premier League.
They are unlikely to make another move, but Al-Ahli and Al-Qadsiah could step in.
A new challenge may be appealing for Silva, who would command a huge salary in the Saudi Pro League.
Lionel Messi, Heung-min Son and Thomas Muller are among the big names plying their trade in Major League Soccer (MLS).
Silva could be the next big star to join the North American league, with Chicago Fire setting their sights on signing him.
The competitive standard is significantly lower than Europe’s top five leagues, but the lifestyle in North America may attract Silva.
Silva could follow in the footsteps of his former team-mate Kevin De Bruyne, who is currently playing in the Serie A with Napoli.
Juventus are admirers of the 31-year-old’s abilities and could make an offer to sign him on a free transfer.
His wage demands could be a stumbling block for a deal.
