Olympique de Marseille again churned their squad this winter, offloading nine players and bringing in four. Since Pablo Longoria became president in 2021, the club have been among the most active in the market.
According to L'Équipe, Marseille matched last winter’s tally of nine exits, the highest of the Longoria era in a winter window. No other French top-flight side ended the window with nine fewer players. Last summer they registered 12 arrivals and as many departures.
Permanent sales were Robinio Vaz to AS Rome for €25m, Darryl Bakola to Sassuolo for €10m, and Ismaël Koné to Sassuolo for €10m. Loans with options saw Angel Gomes join Wolverampthon for €1m with a €7m option, Neal Maupay move to FC Séville with a €7m option, and Ulisses Garcia to Sassuolo with a €4m option.
Matt O'Riley returned to Brighton at the end of his loan, while Pol Lirola and Ruben Blanco departed as free agents. Incoming, Tochukwu Nnadi, Quinten Timber and Himad Abdelli signed permanently. Ethan Nwaneri arrived on loan from Arsenal for €1.5m.
Only Lyon recruited more players with five, though Martin Satriano left straight away for Getafe. Marseille spent about €14.75m and received around €46m, leaving a positive balance of €31.25m.
