According to La Gazzetta dello Sport – via SempreMilan, Massimilliano Allegri wants internationally experienced players in four at least four distinct positions as the Rossoneri prepare for three competitions next season.
A victory over Hellas Verona over the weekend has punctuated a rather barren run of form for Milan. It has also bolstered their chances of securing Champions League football for next season.
Allegri and Co are second in the Serie A table with five games to go, level on points with third-placed Napoli on 66 points, three points off Juve in fourth, whom they face next week, and eight points off fifth- and sixth-placed Como and Roma, respectively.
Centre-back, central midfielder, wingback, and centre-forward are the four positions where the 58-year-old wants reinforcements first and foremost in order to compete on three fronts next season, while young prospects may be added to the squad depending on what opportunities arise in the market.
Allegri’s future has been up in the air both due to Milan’s recent form as well as the FIGC’s interest in him for the Italian national team job. However, after the Hellas Verona game he made it clear that he was looking to continue at San Siro for the foreseeable future.
