Four Premier League giants offered chance to sign Barcelona defender

Barcelona have done well to move on unwanted players during the first few weeks of the summer, but there is still more work to be done. There are plans for Marc Casado to be sold, while it cannot be ruled out that a more counted-upon first teamer departs too.

In recent months, doubts have gradually crept in regarding Barcelona’s first-choice full-back pair. Neither Jules Kounde nor Alejandro Balde were convincing throughout the 2025-26 season, and that led to them regularly being overlooked in the starting line-up, with Hansi Flick going for the likes of Eric Garcia and Joao Cancelo as alternatives.

On the back of this, both Kounde and Balde have been linked with moves away from Barcelona. In the case of the former, he has been offered to numerous Premier League clubs via intermediaries, as per TEAMtalk (via CaughtOffside).

Barcelona would want €65m to sell Kounde

It has emerged in recent weeks that Barcelona are prepared to listen to offers for Kounde, and if he were to leave, the Premier League would be his most likely destination. Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool have all been offered the chance to sign him amid reports that he would cost €65m this summer – Manchester United were also contacted, although they are not interested in a move at this stage.

If it transpires that Kounde were to leave, Barcelona would have to sort a replacement. They have been linked with the likes of Andrei Ratiu and Andrea Cambiaso over the last few weeks, while Cancelo (if signed permanently from Al Hilal) can also operate on the right side of defence, although Flick doers prefer him on the left.

It will be interesting to see whether Kounde does leave Barcelona this summer. There is unlikely to be movement while he’s with France at the 2026 World Cup, but as the weeks go on, there could be moves made.
