The Federação Paulista de Futebol announced the Paulistão Feminino fixture list, with Santos’ Sereias da Vila opening away to Ferroviária on 6 May, live on Record News, HBO Max and CazéTV. The competition brings a new format and VAR in every game, the first women’s tournament in Brazil to use it.
It starts on 6 May and is scheduled to finish on 20 December. The first phase runs from May to August, play-ins are pencilled for 18 and 22 November, then semi-finals on 9 and 13 December.
There will be a single round-robin, seven rounds in the first phase. The top two advance to the semi-finals, teams in third to sixth play a two-legged play-off to complete the last four. The semi-finals and final will also be two legs.
Santos are joined by Taubaté, Corinthians, Ferroviária, Mirassol, Palmeiras, Red Bull Bragantino and São Paulo. Broadcast partners include SporTV, YouTube, CazéTV, HBO Max, Space and Record News, with the finals also on TV Globo.
The new format lifts the average club payment per match by 64%, with R$ 3 million in fees and prizes. The champions receive R$ 1.04 million, and sponsors are Assaí, BIS, Centauro and Sil.
Last season the Sereias missed the knockouts, then finished runners-up in the Copa Paulista. Santos are among the competition’s most successful sides with four titles in 2007, 2010, 2011 and 2018.
