Brentford have teamed up with Fantasy Football Scout to help bring you hints, tips and advice during the 2024/25 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season.

Scout will be using their expertise to provide info, advice and Gameweek tips which may prove useful in ensuring you sit on top of your mini-leagues.

Best of the Bees

It was the Brentford defence who were the big winners in Gameweek 18. The Bees kept their second clean sheet of the season away at Brighton, with Nathan Collins (£4.6m) and Mads Roerslev (£4.3m) both returning six points for their owners. Ben Mee (£4.2m) was just a point behind with five for the Gameweek.

Despite going off on 36 minutes through injury, Mark Flekken (£4.5m) still returned three points for his owners. The goalkeeper recorded six saves, earning his owners two additional save points. However, FPL managers who own Flekken, and Bees fans alike, will have been disappointed to see the goalkeeper substituted before the magic 60-minute mark for clean sheet returns.

Hakon Valdimarsson (£3.9m) also impressed when he came on, picking up two saves and securing the clean sheet. At just £3.9m, Valdimarsson could be a good cheap option for FPL managers, depending on Flekken’s prognosis.

The Spotlight

Roerslev, as mentioned, was the highest-scoring Brentford player of the Gameweek. However, he was unlucky not to return more points than he did. The defender supplied the ball for which Yoane Wissa (£6.2m) scored, before he was ruled offside.

Roerslev has created 10 chances for his team-mates this season, the most across all of the Brentford defenders. He also leads the way for crosses from defenders at Brentford with 22 across the campaign. This gives him some good potential upside with attacking threat in FPL.

Best of the Rest

Joelinton (£6.0m) was the highest-scoring player in Gameweek 18. The Newcastle midfielder returned 13 points for the 1.2% of managers who own him. Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo (£7.2m) and Wolves’ Matheus Cunha (£7.1m) were just one point behind Joelinton with 12 points each for the Gameweek. This was Gakpo’s third successive return at Anfield and his biggest points return of the season so far.

Cole Palmer (£11.5m) outscored Mo Salah (£13.5m) by a solitary point this week; again marking these two as the premium assets to own in the game.

However, there were negative points returns for owners of Bruno Fernandes (£8.4m), Djed Spence (£4.4m) and Jhon Durán (£5.9m), who were all red carded in Gameweek 18.

In Demand

Isak is becoming almost essential and, is once again, the most transferred-in player so far ahead of the Gameweek 19 deadline. Over 348,000 managers have invested in the forward since the previous deadline.

Despite having an FA charge over his head, Cunha is the second-most transferred-in player this week. He faces Tottenham in Gameweek 19, with the north London side appearing not to have a fit centre-back and with five defenders out of the match through injury and suspension.

Many managers are also looking to double up on the Newcastle attack with Anthony Gordon (£7.3m) the third most transferred in. Gordon has blanked just once in the last six Gameweeks, picking up 34 points in that time.

Captaincy

Salah faces a West Ham side who are likely to be without goalkeeper Łukasz Fabiański (£4.1m) after he was substituted through the concussion protocol in Gameweek 18. Salah registered his 16th goal of the season in Gameweek 18 and was handed the armband by 5,395,998 managers for the game against Leicester. This was the most he has ever received in an FPL Gameweek.

Meanwhile, both Palmer and Isak have nice fixtures and could be great differential captains.
