France go top of FIFA rankings after Spain held 0-0 by Egypt

France have returned to the top of the FIFA rankings after Spain were held 0-0 by Egypt on Tuesday.

According to L'Équipe, France had climbed from third to second with a 2-1 win over Brazil last Thursday.

Their 3-1 victory over Colombia on Sunday meant they would take first place if Spain failed to win.

Spain then failed to win, so France moved above them.

It is France’s first spell at number one since the summer of 2018 following their World Cup triumph, and before that they last led the list in 2002.
