Tottenham Hotspur claimed a resounding 3-0 win over Slavia Praha that took the North Londoners up to ninth place on the Champions League table.
Spurs took an early lead via an own goal before penalties from Mohammed Kudus and Xavi Simons secured a much-needed victory.
Tottenham carried on the performance from the weekend win over Brentford into this tie, looking sharper, more organised and incisive.
Just like over the weekend, Simons scored and delivered a terrific performance for the North London side.
Manager Thomas Frank singled him out for praise during his post-match press conference.
Frank said (via Football London), “I think he built on the good game on Saturday, produced again, I would say.
“Good link-up play, nice turns in the middle of the pitch, where he also got that acceleration to go past the player and open up the spaces. I also like his work ethic.
“For example, there was a great recovery run in 90-plus minutes where he just got all the way back, which is crucial for me, for us, for everyone, to work very hard.
“So I like his overall performance.”
Football London gave Simons an 8/10 rating and praised him for making Spurs “look so much more progressive and dangerous.”
Simons is becoming more influential in the team, and his impact is palpable.
The Dutchman arrived with so much promise, and after a wretched run, he is now delivering the goods.
The 22-year-old will hope to continue this rich vein of form when Tottenham travel to Nottingham Forest this weekend.
Simons will be key to Tottenham’s chances of winning. He has an uncanny ability to unlock defences with his movement and link-up play.
Sean Dyche’s teams are notoriously hard to break down, and the former RB Leipzig star needs to bring his A-game as Spurs bid to take down the Tricky Trees.
