Eintracht Frankfurt CEO Markus Krösche has insisted the club are under no pressure to sell Hugo Ekitike this summer.

Chelsea and Liverpool are interested in signing the French forward with the former failing in a bid to secure a deal before the Club World Cup deadline.

Liverpool also like Ekitike, as the Premier League champions look to sign a centre-forward. Darwin Nunez is expected to leave Anfield, while there are doubts over Diogo Jota’s future.

Ekitike is in demand after an excellent season with the Bundesliga side. He scored 22 goals in all competitions and provided 13 assists, helping the German outfit to Champions League qualification. The club’s qualification for the competition has strengthened their position on the player.

Frankfurt value Ekitike at €100m (£85.3m) and Krösche has insisted the club will only sell if an offer is too good to turn down.

“If the price isn’t right, then he’ll just stay with us. We don’t have to sell Hugo,” the Eintracht Frankfurt chief executive told Wiesbadener Kurier.

Ekitike is open to a new challenge in England, though is contracted at Frankfurt until 2029. The 22-year-old joined the club from Paris Saint-Germain for a fee of €16.5m last summer, after a previous loan spell in Germany.

Last season, he ranked in the top five percent of forwards across Europe for expected assists, successful take-ons and progressive carries per 90 minutes. He led all Bundesliga players for shots and ranked second for xG and non-penalty xG.

Ekitike helped Frankfurt to a top-four finish despite the mid-season sale of Omar Marmoush to Manchester City and was named in the Bundesliga Team of the Season for 2024/25.
