Ryan Fraser has sent his best wishes to Southampton supporters for the remainder of the season after leaving the club for Western Sydney Wanderers.
The winger departed with six months left on his contract, ending a two-and-a-half-year stint at St Mary’s. The player said in a post that he will keep following and supporting the team, adding that he hopes they can earn promotion back to where the club belongs.
The 31-year-old first arrived on loan during the 2023/24 promotion-winning campaign, then re-signed on a permanent deal the following summer. He reflected fondly on his time at the club and indicated he would like to reconnect with supporters in other roles in future.
Fraser described the move as a new challenge and noted that his first week in Australia started perfectly thanks to a late winner. He thanked Wanderers fans for their warm welcome and looked ahead to Saturday’s match against Sydney FC.
He made 72 appearances for Saints, scoring nine goals and providing five assists. Since Tonda Eckert’s appointment in November, Fraser featured only four times under the German head coach.
