FC Bayern Munich maintained their six-point gap at the top of the Frauen-Bundesliga before the last international break of the year. Wolfsburg also recorded an away victory in Leipzig in a matchday that saw only Freiburg win at home.

Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg booked their places in the knockout stage of the UEFA Women’s Champions League in midweek with wins over PSG and Manchester United, respectively. The Frauen-Bundesliga giants followed it up with league victories away from home.Bayern went behind early on with Valesca Ampoorter scoring from the penalty spot. Fresh from her first Champions League goal, Momoko Tanikawa scored a well-taken brace for Bayern. The Japanese international also assisted Georgia Stanway’s equalizing goal before the red card. Alara and Arianna Caruso scored the other goals as Bayern extended their winning streak to ten matches in all competitions.

Wolfsburg also went into the international break with three wins in a row. Cora Zicai, Kessya Bussy, and Svenja Huth scored the goals for She-Wolves in their comfortable 3-1 victory in Leipzig.

With Eintracht Frankfurt’s game in Nürnberg postponed to December 10th, Werder Bremen climbed to third after a 1-1 draw with Köln. Somehow, both teams failed to convert first-half penalty-kicks, but Larissa Mühlhaus made amends for her miss with the equalizing goal after the break.

The clash between two newly-promoted sides -- Union Berlin and Hamburger SV – also ended 1-1 at Alten Försterei. Carl Zeiss Jena, who are the only side to earn a point against Bayern, are still waiting for their first league win of the season. After knocking out Union Berlin from the DFB-Pokal, they lost 3-0 away at Freiburg on Saturday.

SGS Essen are also in the drop zone, but they ended their search for a first league win with a surprising 1-0 victory in Leverkusen. Natasha Kowalski’s back-to-back goals reduced the gap between Essen and HSV to a couple of points.

Unbeaten Bayern sit at the top of the standings with 31 points after 11 matchdays. The six-time Frauen-Bundesliga winners scored 40 goals while only conceding four. Leverkusen’s Vanessa Fudalla leads the scoring charts with seven goals.
