St Mirren beat Hearts 1-0 at the SMISA Stadium on Tuesday to climb from 10th to ninth in the Scottish Premiership.
Craig Halkett was sent off in the 29th minute, leaving the visitors down to 10 men.
VAR checked for a possible St Mirren penalty in the second minute of first half stoppage time, but the decision was no penalty.
After the restart, Alexander Schwolow kept the visitors in it with smart saves from Mikael Mandron and Killian Phillips as the hosts pressed.
Miguel Freckleton settled the game (88.), glancing in Declan John's corner from close range.
Three minutes were indicated at the end, but the Jambos could not find a leveller.
St Mirren registered 21 attempts, five on target, and won seven corners as they controlled much of the play. Hearts produced five attempts, two on target.
