Barcelona's official social media account has provided an update on the fitness of midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

The 28-year-old Dutch international has sustained a minor strain to the external obturator muscle in his right leg. This raises questions about his availability for the upcoming match against Valencia.

According to journalist Pintanel, while the injury is not considered serious, de Jong is expected to miss the Valencia fixture nonetheless.

The player was substituted in the 83rd minute of the Netherlands' match against Poland. He subsequently returned to Barcelona for further assessment and was ruled out of international duty.

De Jong was a pivotal figure for Barcelona last season, making 46 appearances and contributing two goals and two assists.
