The Robins will be set to receive their sell-on windfall early in the window if the Bournemouth star does depart
Bristol City could be in line to receive £11 million early on in the January transfer window, as a fresh update emerges surrounding the logistics of Antoine Semenyo's release clause at Bournemouth.
It's been widely reported that the Robins agreed a 20% sell-on clause for any profit on the £10 million that they sold the Ghanaian international for in January 2023.
Then, when Semenyo signed a new deal at the Vitality Stadium this past summer, it included a £65 million release clause which could be activated in January.
It has now been revealed by Ben Jacobs and Alex Crook for talkSPORT that this clause is only valid for the first 10 days of the month, with Jacobs adding that a winter exit "looks likely" for the 25-year-old.
If that deal does get done in the opening days of the window, it'll present a huge payday for Bristol City, who would then have the rest of the month to invest in their own squad.

It was revealed in mid-November that Semenyo had a £65 million release clause in the new contract he signed with Bournemouth in the summer.
The 25-year-old enjoyed an electric start to the 2025/26 campaign, helping the Cherries to five wins in their opening nine, scoring six and assisting three in that time.
However, at the time the details surrounding his release clause were revealed, Bournemouth and Semenyo were in a bit of a slump, and financial advisors predicted that a move likely wouldn't be risked in January.
Two goals in his last two games have reignited interest, though, with Sky Sports reporting that both Manchester clubs and Liverpool, in the wake of Alexander Isak's injury, are all interested in bringing Semenyo in next month.
If they are going to sign the 25-year-old, they're going to have to do it quickly, though, as the £65 million release clause is only valid for the first 10 days of January, according to Ben Jacobs. After that, the Cherries can reject any advances and keep the exciting wideman on their books until the summer.
The reasoning behind this is so that Andoni Iraola's side can sort out a replacement, but it inadvertently benefits Bristol City, too, who will be set to receive £11 million from the sale, given the 20% sell-on clause they inserted into the move from Ashton Gate nearly two years ago.
That eight-figure fee will be massive for the Robins in terms of investment, both off-field and on it.

Not only would Bristol City receive a fee that would exceed the majority of their record player sales through the sell-on fee of Semenyo, but they'd also be receiving the money with plenty of time to invest in the squad in January.
There are expectations that Gerhard Struber's side will be busy next month, regardless of the cash windfall, as the Robins were rather quiet in the recent summer window.
Plus, the sheer number of injuries which have been bestowed upon the squad in the first half of the campaign cries out for extra bodies in January.
They've already started on the front foot with the free agent arrival of Sam Morsy, and his promotion pedigree shows intent that the higher-ups at Bristol City are going to be looking for clear improvements to help the side reach the play-offs once more.
Despite the short-handed squad, Gerhard Struber has kept his Robins side competitive, and they go into the Christmas period two points off the play-offs, and even nine off the top two.
A strong winter window, boosted by £11 million arriving in Steve Lansdown's wallet early on in January, could see them solidify a place in the top six, with keen eyes on perhaps gatecrashing the automatic promotion places come May.
